Expanded PTFE – EPTFE Gasket material is a soft and conformable material that is ideal for applications with limited bolt load torque available. Or in applications such as glass-lined pipe where excessive bolt load will cause more problems than it will solve.
The flexible material adapts well to sealing surfaces, compensates irregularities and seals at very low stresses. It has the same chemical resistance and temperature range as any PTFE but it is soft and will effect a seal much quicker than regular PTFE gasket material.
The expanded PTFE sheet is made from 100 percent virgin PTFE and is exceptionally compressible. It is a food-safe product with great chemical resistance, making it a preferred sealing material in the food, beverage, and pharmaceutical sectors.
Due to its low bolt load requirements, the material is widely used for expanded PTFE gaskets and is a good choice for fragile, worn, and damaged flanges. It can also sustain compressive stresses of up to 40,000 psi without compromising its sealing capacity.
